Southern California is leading the charge when it comes to renewable energy, but it is no secret that drought and extreme temperatures are putting a strain on the basic utilities of the Coachella Valley. Since we purchased our home in Rancho Mirage, California, we have been dedicated to enhancing the home in a way that ensures the sustainability of the region for many years to come. That led us to research how we could create an experience that lends to being more environmentally conscious. We recognize we are just a single home, small business, in the vacation rental home business, but we felt that even a small business like ours can help in the effort. Solar Panels & EV Charging

With 26 panels installed in 2020, we are capturing all the extra hours of sunshine and turning it into energy, every day. You may not be able to see the solar panels, but rest assured they are up on the roof. Looking to rent a car for your trip? Consider renting an EV and keep yourself charged up with the ChargePoint charger, located in the garage, for all those day trips around the desert.

NEW HVAC System w/ smart Thermostat

With a multi-speed fan our newly installed HVAC system ensures that the home stays nice and cool, but with the efficiency needed to use the least amount of energy, even on those harsh 115+ degree days. Additionally, with our smart thermostat if a door/window remains open for greater than 30 minutes the air conditioner/ heater automatically adjusts the set temperature until the door/window is closed again; at which point the system automatically sets back to your desired temperature.

Artificial Turf

Did you know that grass is the single largest irrigated agricultural "crop" in the United States? After hearing this in August 2022, we joined the City of Rancho Mirage, CA and their initiative to work towards eliminating all real grass turf in exchange for desert landscape options. We opted to go with a pet friendly artificial turf. So far, Rancho Mirage has eliminated over 1 million sq. ft of real grass around the city.

Trash collection including composting

The City of Rancho Mirage, CA is now participating in the composting of food wastes. This new service has been added to the incredible recycling program already in place. More information will be provided prior to your arrival with us.
